To help educate backyard poultry keepers about infectious poultry diseases and protect their birds, the United States Department of Agriculture is again offering a free calendar for 2017, called: Backyard Biosecurity: Keeping Your Birds Healthy.
The government doesn’t necessarily make it easy to order these free calendars though (their sight is not necessarily user friendly about the order process), so I’ve added step by step instructions and screen shots below to help those who would like to get them ordered. I order two each year (that may be the limit per address) and they always send them.
The calendar features full-color photos of birds like the one shown below, and can be ordered at: https://web01.aphis.usda.gov/PRTDIST/WebOrder/WOEIS.nsf They say to allow six to eight weeks for delivery, but mine came within about a week this year.
It offers good advice on biosecurity that’s worth following, as many of us have learned the hard way! I use mine to track important farm activities each year.
Once you click on the link above, you’ll get a screen like this (and it may be very slow so be patient):
Once you get to the screen above, click on the down arrow and select BIOSECURITY FOR BIRDS instead of ANIMAL HEALTH as shown below and then hit the “Search This View” button on the right.
The following screen should come up and you need to put “calendar” in the Keyword space and hit the Perform Search button.
The following screen should then come up and you need to click on the PA-2197:
The screen below should then come up:
Change the quantity to 2 (if you want two calendars) and hit “Add to Cart“. Then hit the View Cart button up above and the following screen should come up:
Enter your information and hit the Submit Order button, and you should get an order confirmation screen (be patient, it takes awhile). Hopefully your calendars will arrive soon!
