Bramblestone Kidding Season Is Here!

Bramblestone Farm 2017 Kidding SeasonWe anxiously anticipate kidding season each spring, both with apprehension and excitement. Excitement about the birth of new Nigerian Dwarf goat kids, and apprehension over whether everyone will arrive without issues.

On Sunday morning (3/26/17 at about 12:30 AM), 3*M Bramblestone Amethyst *D decided it was time. She delivered three bucklings, they were all in the correct orientation for easy births, and it happened very quickly. They are all polled – so we don’t have to disbud them!

The first and third  to arrive are very similar in appearance – light brown, caped buckskins in coloration. The registration letter this year is J, so they’re J1 and J3, until we pick names for them. J1 was 3.5 lbs. and J3 was 3.4 lbs. Here they are together:

J2 was also 3.4 lbs., but he’s a chamoise in coloring, with some white overlay:

Here they are together:

On Monday (3/27/17) at about 11 AM, Bramblestone Charm Box decided it was time. She had two polled bucklings, and they were both in the correct presentation so everything went quickly and smoothly. They’re J4 and J5 until we come up with names:

J4 was 3.5 lbs, and is a chamoise with coloration much like his dam Charm Box:

Finally, J5 was 4.3 lbs. (the big guy of the bunch) and he’s a black caped buckskin in coloration, also with some white overlay:

It’s awesome having baby goats in the barn again, they’re so joyful and so much fun!!

Hi Amanda, They are really good looking little guys, and so affectionate. One snuck into the house last night for a few minutes, he fell asleep while I was holding him so I just had to bring him in for a bit until he woke up ? It does seem to be shaping up to be a buck year, hope kidding is going well on your farm too!

Hi Bill, I agree – it’s just about impossible to come up with anything cuter than a baby goat! Your garden looks great by the way 🙂
