We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and hope you get to enjoy lots of delicious food with family and friends!
Of course, Thanksgiving is the traditional time to give thanks for all we have and we’re fortunate to be spending the day with family this year. We have a lot to be thankful for – family, friends, prosperity, the farm, and our health.
I’m also thankful for all my online friends and everyone who reads this blog. You inspire me and enrich my life. Without you, there would be no point in writing about what’s happening on the farm.
But, the farm can be challenging and occasionally I think that I’d like to give it up. Why struggle to produce goats, goat milk, eggs, honey, produce, etc. when we could just go buy it at the store? It can be heartbreaking to lose a prized animal that you’ve raised or to open a honey bee hive that didn’t survive the winter, and on it goes. There are days when a small farm is definitely not for sissies.
And then I remember that rather than watching people live life on the TV or reading about it in a book, we’re living fuller lives on this earth. It’s a lot of work but we have fresh milk, eggs, honey, produce and livestock that love us.
So in addition to giving thanks during this holiday, I find it helpful to make time every day to think about the things I’m grateful for and give thanks. It helps me keep a positive attitude and appreciate the beautiful world around us.
And it reaffirms that being thankful makes you happy 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!
