I just received my March/April 2014 issue of Urban Farm, and I’m excited to have two articles published in it! It’s the spring gardening primer issue, and it’s just full of great gardening information. Reading it has made me want spring to get here so much sooner, and don’t those tomatoes on the cover look just yummy? The thing I love about Urban Farm is that all the information is specific to growing in “small” spaces, so it’s useful no matter how big or little your homestead is.
My first article in the magazine is a feature article on using the lazy-bed method for easy-to-grow potatoes called Spudtacular Idea!:
The second is on how easy it is to grow edible podded peas and how wonderful they are for your table, called Give Peas A Chance:
I really think you’ll enjoy a copy of this issue, not only will you learn the easy way to grow spuds and peas, there are also articles on introducing new birds to the chicken flock, farmers market shopping tips, using natural fertilizers, how to choose a farm pickup, a tutorial on growing tomatoes, how to choose lettuce varieties for your garden (and table), a DIY potato tower, and much more. It’s inspired me to get back to planning the garden, ordering supplies, and starting seedlings!
