Old Mountain Farm Field Mouse

In the spring of 2013, we finally decided to acquire a buck, and I began looking for a great polled buckling. I’ve been admiring the bucks and does at Old Mountain Farm for years, so I inquired there first and sure enough, this handsome guy was available.

We drove 14 hours to pick up Old Mountain Farm Field Mouse (aka Mighty), and are very happy we did. He’s now returned to Old Mountain Farm, but we’re thrilled to have retained several daughters and a son.

In addition to his great conformation and dairy character, his dam and grand dams have incredible looking udders, and almost all of them have earned their Advanced Registry milk production stars.

At our first show (and his) in 2013, he was Champion Junior Buck and Reserve Grand Champion Buck. The judges admired his topline, legs, and smoothness of blending; but said that his length of body and dairy character were what earned him his wins.

????????????????????????????????????

He has great dairy conformation, but what the judges found outstanding was his length of body and dairy character. His dam and grand dams also have gorgeous udders.

The picture below is before clipping, I didn’t realize what color he really was. The other thing we really enjoy about Mighty is his disposition – he’s a friendly, easy to handle guy that enjoys interacting with people. I think he’s a natural show-off too, and enjoys being trimmed and groomed. I was a little apprehensive about getting a buck, sure glad we got Mighty!
